Governor Mutahi Kahiga Challenges President Ruto on Unfulfilled Promises and Gen Z Demands

In a bold statement directed at President William Ruto, Governor Mutahi Kahiga has voiced concerns over the administration's approach to addressing the demands of Kenya's youth and fulfilling campaign promises.

Governor Kahiga criticized the president's decision to establish a 150-member negotiation team, arguing that it fails to address the direct requests made by the country's Gen Z population. "The Gen Zs have made demands, you engaged with them and they told you what they want. None of their demands was for you to put up a 150-member team to negotiate," Kahiga stated.

The governor emphasized the simplicity of the youth's requests, urging President Ruto to take immediate action rather than engage in prolonged discussions. "They have clearly told you they want you to do this and that. It is that simple," he added.

Kahiga's remarks highlight growing impatience with the pace of change under Ruto's administration. The governor suggested that if the youth call for a cabinet reshuffle or even dismissal, the president should comply without hesitation. "If they say re-organise your Cabinet, kindly do so…if they say sack it, do it," Kahiga advised.

Reminding the president of the vast pool of talent available in the country, Kahiga stated, "There are 50 million Kenyans who can fit in that office," implying that alternative leadership options are plentiful if current officials fail to meet expectations.

The governor's comments reflect broader concerns about the government's ability to deliver on its promises in the current political climate. "You've made so many promises. They will not be achieved in this kind of atmosphere," Kahiga warned, underscoring the urgency for tangible action to address the nation's pressing issues.

As pressure mounts on the Ruto administration to respond to youth demands and fulfill campaign pledges, this intervention by Governor Kahiga adds to the growing chorus calling for swift and decisive leadership.
