In a concerted effort to tackle the surge in electronic theft, detectives across the Nairobi Region have undertaken a series of operations targeting suspicious phone repair stalls. The crackdown, conducted on March 4, 2024, yielded significant results, with hundreds of suspected stolen mobile phones, laptops, and tablets seized.

In Ruai and Kamulu areas, raids on Free Mack Electronic Shop, Kamale Mobile Repair, and Friends Communication Shop led to the confiscation of over 182 mobile phones, a laptop, an iPad, and two heating machines. Five suspects were apprehended during these operations.

Similar efforts in Kamukunji and Lang'ata areas resulted in the seizure of more suspected stolen phones and laptops, with several individuals arrested for their involvement in electronic theft activities.

Additionally, the police have made strides in apprehending robbery with violence suspects operating in the Matopeni area. Five individuals were arrested shortly after waylaying a resident and stealing valuables, including a phone and a jacket.

The DCI Nairobi Region Coordinator has issued a stern warning to mobile phone thieves, cautioning both fraudulent dealers and genuine operators to exercise caution to avoid legal repercussions. The crackdown underscores law enforcement's commitment to combating electronic theft and ensuring the safety of residents in Nairobi and its environs.
