" Nilimdunga tu kwa miguu " Suspected Matara on Killing Starlet Wahu Reveals More Details

In a chilling turn of events, the police have extended the detention of Mr. John Matara, the prime suspect in the stabbing incident involving Starlet Wahu, for an additional 14 days. This move aims to conclude a thorough investigation into the case that has sent shockwaves through the community.

On Thursday, Matara, 34, confessed to stabbing Wahu in the leg but vehemently denied accusations of inflicting wounds to her chest and head. Wahu, who tragically lost her life, was the younger sister of Pastor Victor Kanyari, adding a layer of complexity to the already harrowing situation.

Martin Korongo, the head of criminal investigations in Makadara sub-county, revealed that his officers have 21 days to detain the main suspect. As of Thursday, two weeks remain for a comprehensive examination of the evidence.

Matara is currently held in a cell at the Industrial Area police station, awaiting court proceedings upon the investigation's completion. Moreover, Korongo disclosed that he awaits a file from the Ruiru crime unit, linking Matara to another case involving the forceful theft of money from a woman.

“I am waiting for my colleague from the Ruiru sub-county to bring the file and the sealed report from the CID department in the Njiru area where the suspect Magara is involved in a crime,” stated Korongo.

Interestingly, Matara, described as calm and composed, reportedly cooperates well with the officers and communicates sparingly while in custody. The head investigator noted, “He is a person who seems calm, composed, and when inside the cell, he doesn’t talk much. He communicates well with us, but he is a very intelligent person.”

Additionally, Matara's involvement in a separate crime has surfaced, where he allegedly absconded with a woman's money using the M-Pesa platform. Korongo emphasized that after concluding the investigation, both cases will be consolidated, leading to charges of murder and robbery using force against Matara.

The suspect has admitted to being 'married' and having one child but disclosed separation from his wife following a domestic dispute. As the investigation unfolds, the community anxiously awaits justice for Starlet Wahu and accountability for the alleged crimes committed by Mr. John Matara.
