Detectives Crack Down on Vehicle Theft Syndicates: Unveiling the Faces Behind the Crimes

In response to a surge in reported motor vehicle theft cases in Nairobi and neighboring counties, detectives from the Nairobi regional Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, Operations, and DCI Kayole initiated a strategic operation targeting the perpetrators. The operation, which unfolded today, resulted in the apprehension of prime suspect Timothy Ndegwa from his residence in Thika Makongeni Estate.

During the raid, investigators discovered a registration plate number (KBR 957C) at Ndegwa's residence. Subsequent interrogation led the officers to Kenyatta Road in Juja, where they arrested Ndegwa's accomplice, George Kimani Wangechi. Wangechi was found in possession of a suspected stolen white Toyota Fielder with registration plate nos. KCC 458K.

Upon further questioning, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the theft of a red Isuzu DMAX within Kayole, which they subsequently sold to a buyer in Nyeri through an accomplice named Stephen Kamau Maganjo. The investigative team traced the stolen vehicle to Narumoru, where Antony Wanjohi Theuri was arrested while driving it.

As the detectives delved deeper into their inquiries, a fourth accomplice, Boniface Gitemengo Gachanja, was located and apprehended in Githurai. Gachanja led the investigators to Limuru's Flyover area, where Josphat Ikua Mwangi was arrested in possession of a suspected stolen Toyota Corolla (registration no. KBA 163Y). The recovered vehicle was secured at DCI offices.

In a subsequent development later in the evening, another accomplice, Alois Tabu Ojiambo, was traced and arrested in Kariobangi. Ojiambo is currently undergoing interrogation as detectives strive to uncover additional details that may lead to further recoveries in Nairobi and Nakuru counties.
