Tragic Road Accident Claims Four Lives near Oyugis Town

In a devastating incident on Thursday evening, a collision between a lorry and a motorcycle near Kasimba junction, close to Oyugis town, resulted in the tragic deaths of four individuals. The accident unfolded along the Kisii-Oyugis road in Kasupil constituency and involved a lorry transporting soapstones from Kisii town and a motorcycle carrying three passengers from Nyang’iela trading center to Oyugis town.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the accident occurred as the speeding lorry collided with the motorcycle while attempting to negotiate a corner at the junction of Rodi Kopany-Kasimba road and Kisii-Oyugis road. Regrettably, the impact led to the immediate demise of the motorcycle passengers, comprising two men and a woman, all of whom lost their lives on the spot, as reported by local resident Charles Okach.

Okach emphasized that both vehicles were moving at exceptionally high speeds, making it impossible to avert the collision, even though the lorry driver attempted to alert the motorcycle rider. Subsequent to the collision, the lorry lost control and overturned by the roadside.
