Mother Under Police Guard in Hospital After Fatally Attacking Man Caught Defiling Her Child

In a harrowing incident that unfolded on Thursday evening, a courageous mother is now under police guard at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital in Nandi after taking drastic action to protect her child. The 35-year-old woman, accompanied by her 3-year-old daughter, was admitted to the hospital following her fatal attack on a middle-aged man who was caught in the act of defiling her child at their home in Kolong village, Nandi Central.

The shocking incident has sparked widespread outrage within the community, leading to violent reprisals. Nandi Central Police Commander David Anyir confirmed reports of the incident and revealed that villagers, in a visceral reaction to the man's heinous act, resorted to extreme measures. Angered by the crime, they targeted the child's mother, setting fire to her houses and destroying her tea bushes.

The situation further escalated when the enraged mob turned their fury towards the police officers who had arrived at the scene to rescue the woman. The officers faced violent attacks, resulting in the damage of a police van's windscreen during the confrontation.

Authorities have disclosed that the deceased had previously committed a similar crime against the same child when she was just two years old. However, due to the man's mental challenges, he was released by a Kapsabet court, which now raises questions about the handling of such cases involving mentally impaired individuals.

The retrieval of the deceased's body from the murder scene was delayed by an angry mob for nearly 10 hours before the police were able to safely remove it.

While the mother, hailed by some as a courageous defender, currently faces murder charges, her recovery from the injuries sustained during the incident remains a top priority. The community members, driven by their anger, subjected her to physical harm before authorities intervened. Additionally, her 3-year-old daughter is receiving medical treatment at the hospital for both physical injuries and the psychological trauma inflicted upon her during the traumatic events.

Hospital sources, shedding light on the mother's state of mind, revealed that she felt she had no alternative but to take such drastic action. Alice Sum, a hospital representative, shared, "She has been defiled twice by the same person, the deceased. The mother had no alternative after finding her red-handed in the act... and hacked her to death on the spot."

As the investigation progresses, the mother will eventually face the full force of the law. Meanwhile, the community grapples with the aftermath of this deeply distressing incident, prompting discussions about the urgent need for effective protection against sexual predators and support for victims of such crimes.
